The influence of ball velocity and court illumination on reaction time for tennis volley.
The he purpose of this study is to examine the effects of ball velocity, court illumination, and volley type on the reaction time (RT) of a tennis athlete for a volley stroke. Eights cases with two different ball velocities (high and low), two volley types (forehand and backhand ) and two court illumination levels (dark and bright) were studied. The 30 participating subjects consisted of 18 mal...
متن کاملFluid balance and sodium losses during indoor tennis match play.
This study assessed fluid balance, sodium losses, and effort intensity during indoor tennis match play (17 ± 2 °C, 42% ± 9% relative humidity) over a mean match duration of 68.1 ± 12.8 min in 16 male tennis players. Ad libitum fluid intake was recorded throughout the match. Sweat loss from change in nude body mass; sweat electrolyte content from patches applied to the forearm, calf, and thigh, ...

متن کاملIllumination-Invariant and Deformation-Tolerant Inner Knuckle Print Recognition Using Portable Devices
We propose a novel biometric recognition method that identifies the inner knuckle print (IKP). It is robust enough to confront uncontrolled lighting conditions, pose variations and low imaging quality. Such robustness is crucial for its application on portable devices equipped with consumer-level cameras. We achieve this robustness by two means. First, we propose a novel feature extraction sche...
متن کاملKnuckle pads.
Knuckle pads are well circumscribed thickenings of the skin over the metacarpophalangeal and, more commonly, the proximal interphalangeal joints. Although the association with several other clinical syndromes including Dupuytren's disease is well documented, most cases are idiopathic. We present a case of knuckle pads and briefly review the history and course of this disease.
